Community Hall

Community Hall

The Old Stratford Community Hall, situated at the end of Deanshanger Road, was built and opened in 2000 and plays an essential role in supporting residents from Old Stratford and neighbouring villages.  The Community Hall is run by a committee of volunteers, with the day to day running of the Hall overseen by a manager/caretaker and deputy caretaker.

About the Hall

The Hall consists of two rooms, both of which are available to hire for any special events.  We have a kitchen, licensed bar, portable stage, toilets, changing rooms, showers, tables and chairs – whatever you need to make your event as special as it can be.

Many local groups run weekly activities for tiny tots up to senior citizens, including exercise classes, sports groups and slimming clubs.  We are sure to have a group or activity that you would find interesting.  As these may change from time to time, information regarding our regular groups is to be found on the boards in the Hall entrance.

We run a monthly Senior Citizens’ Afternoon Tea, held on the last Friday of every month (except December), between 2pm and 4pm, serving hot drinks, sandwiches and cakes, all for a small donation.   Bingo, flower arranging displays and talks are often organised and this is a great way for people to keep in contact with their friends and neighbours in the village.  Please note, this is held in the Memorial Hall behind the Village Shop, as it is a more central location for our guests.

We also hold two annual events to bring our community together.   A fireworks display is organised in November where our pre-school does some much-needed fundraising.  Everyone is welcome and it is usually a very fun evening – even when the weather is against us!

Every year we prepare a four-course Christmas Lunch which is personally cooked and served by members of the Community Hall committee, pre-school staff and other volunteers from the village.

If you know of anyone who is new to the village and is over the age of 65, we would be delighted to welcome them to our Christmas Lunch and help them feel part of our community.  A group of young children from the Old Stratford Primary School Choir come along and sing carols which always brings a smile to our guests!

For any information regarding our activities and groups, or if you are interested in hiring the Hall for a special event, please contact us directly either by phone or email (details below).  You are very welcome to come and view our facilities, so please request this with the Manager at the time of your enquiry.   Unfortunately, due to our on-site pre-school, ad-hoc visits are not permitted.

Please note, the Manager’s Office is not manned throughout the day, however if you leave a message by phone or email, we endeavour to respond to you within two working days.
