Parish Councillor Vacancies

There are vacancies on Old Stratford Parish Council and we are inviting you to step up and become a Parish Councillor.

  • Are you concerned about your local area?
  • Interested to become more active in your community?
  • Do you want to represent the views of local people and influence decisions that affect your community?

What do councillors do?

Local councillors are the champions of their community who invest time in local projects and issues to the benefit of residents and the neighbourhood. Councillors represent the residents, local groups and businesses, make decisions on local services, collaborate with district councils to identify local needs, and progress vital projects to invest in the future of the community.

Councillors are a voice for their community and make real change by getting involved with issues concerning the area, keeping it a great place to live and work.

Old Stratford Parish Council currently meet at 7:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month for 1-2hours to represent the electors by raising and discussing issues of interest on which we are empowered to act.

To be a Parish Councillor you must:

  • be at least 18 years old;
  • be a UK or Commonwealth citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland or a citizen of a Member State of the European Union;
  • live in the Parish; or in the past 12 months been owner or tenant in the Parish, work in the Parish or live within three miles of the Parish boundary.

If you would like to be considered, please email with a brief CV to Nicky Laurence, Parish Clerk at clerk@oldstratford.org.uk
